Why do I need to register?
It is important for us to know what your needs are. Once you register, we can assist by sending out e-mail updates with properties that matches your criteria. We have a lot of property owners who would like to rent out their apartments furnished, and once we know your needs and preferred area where you would like to reside, we have a good chance of bringing you, the tenant, and a property owner together.

Who is responsible to pay the commission?
The tenant is responsible to pay the commission of between 6% and 10% (calculated based on the rental duration). The tenant has 32 days after signing the contract to pay the commission over to FAR Furnished Apartment Rentals. Some landlords/property owners include the commission in their monthly rental, to minimize the financial burden on the tenant and to make their property more competitive. They then sign a debit order to pay the commission over to us on a monthly basis. In this event, if a contract is ended prematurely, the tenant remains liable to pay the outstanding commission over to FAR Furnished Apartment Rentals.

What should I do if I see an apartment that I would like to view with the aim of possibly contracting with the landlord?
First register online. As soon as you have registered, we will get in touch with you to confirm your requirements and to schedule any viewing that you would require.

What if I would like to have additional features or appliances in my furnished apartment?
This can be arranged. Please let us know of any additional requirements and we will get in touch with the landlord to try and fulfil your wishes. If there are additional expenses involved, this will be relayed to you for consideration.

I can’t find an apartment in the specific area where I am hoping to stay. What should I do?
Contact us by e-mail and we will hand it over to our customization team. With customizations, the rental duration is of key importance, as the investment of furnishing an apartment is quite immense and can only be paid of over a lengthy period of time. Location and the ability to find future occupants are instrumental in the decision to customize an apartment according to your needs.

What are the deposit requirements for furnished apartment rentals?
In South Africa it is typical to ask for one month’s rent for an unfurnished apartment, and one and a half to two months rent, for a furnished apartment. This is to cover the additional investment that the landlord had to make in furnishing the apartment. Some corporate companies issue a certificate of guarantee in stead of a deposit, and it is up to the individual landlord whether he accepts this or not.
